“Myself, mum, family all commented on how polite and courteous Ian the photographer was around us the family and our guests. Ian was excellent at capturing the special moments that we experienced, without being intrusive.”

About Me

I started taking photographs as a hobby and then over time was asked to shoot for friends, family, night clubs, businesses and other people. With enjoying these shoots I approached and worked with several outstanding and creative photographers, second shooting/assisting and after a while decided to take the leap to start up on my own.

What I love about being a photographer is giving someone photographs to last through generations. I remember as a child flicking through my parents’ photo albums and slides (yes, 'SLIDES!!') and reliving memories. This is what I want to give my clients, photographic memories to make you smile now, and in years to come.

Other things about me... I've have been a professional musician and teacher for over 16 years which has given me a real understanding of working in all situations, conditions and with a wide variety of people and I bring this to how I work with my photography clients. I'm also a passionate rock climber (see image of me dangling off a rock) and love getting outdoors in the Peak District, which is sometimes like a second home to me.... and I'm obsessed with music, all styles of music, new, old, everything.

My Style

I'm a Nottingham, UK based photographer with a passion for taking photographs. Whether it be a wedding day, new baby, family portraits, birthdays, parties, photos for business or promotional use. I believe in trying and capture moments in the most natural way but will sometimes orchestra the situation to get the best results.

My style is to be like a 'fly on the wall', in the background taking photos as things happen, catching people unaware to gain realistic natural expressions. But, I also have a laid back, easy going and fun manner to make my clients feel at ease to get the best results when conducting a slightly more posed photo shoot. With these two approaches I like to mix them together in an album of images to give my clients the best of both perspectives. The natural fun with the classy stylish posed shots.

I always like to get to know my clients, understand them and what they want from me so I can incorporate this into the shoot/session. I try to ensure that the images I capture have a personal feel and reflect the person/people I'm shooting without the images feeling clinical or false. I always try to create the same feel when shooting events or live music.
